Managing Suicidality

Simon has worked in an NHS Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) for over 12 years and supported many individuals who have either attempted suicide or were suicidal.

He continues to see individuals who have a high desire for suicide and who regularly self-harm.

In 2017 he successfully completed a 15-month research project into using EMDR in a CRHTT and Acute Mental Health Ward, proving that EMDR was safe and effect for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.

In 2018 he achieved the award for Innovative Practice by the Division of Counselling Psychology within the British Psychological Society for his research in EMDR with people who are suicidal.

Within his private practice and the NHS, Simon has had extensive experience of supporting individuals who have suffered a bereavement by suicide.

He regularly delivers training on EMDR and Suicide and offers clinical consultation to those supporting individuals who are suicidal.
